Nilar Doll
Made by Action For Public (AFP), a vocational support group of women, some widowed whose lives have been impacted by HIV. The group works together on sewing projects as a way to create income and support their family. Nillar doll was created in collaboration with Hla Day and AFP. Nilar Doll represents the hope that girls and women of Myanmar may overcome the many obstacles that stand in the way of fully exercising their right to participate in, complete and benefit from education.
Naughty Dog
This cheeky paper mache dog is sure to add some smiles to your home. Our paper mache producer began in 2009 by making small toys for his son La Min which means Moon. It soon grew into a business which now employs thirty people in three locations. Hla Day aims to combine traditional techniques with modern ideas, creating a wide variety of quirky animal figures made out of hand carved wood molds. Most of the animals are traditionally found at pagoda entrances, even the giraffes and zebras which of course aren’t native to Myanmar.
